The car was originally known as the Passat CC and it is the fastback version of the Volkswagen Passat. The "CC" in its name stands for "Comfort Coupe." The mid size car is slotted between the Passat and the Phaeton in the Volkswagen range of vehicles. Although the CC is heavily based on the Passat as it shares its wheelbase, the CC features a more sporty style and an eye catching design. The Volkswagen CC first made its debut in January of 2008 in Detroit, Michigan at the North American International Auto Show. It was discontinued after the 2017 model year.
