Classified as a luxury, race-bred, grand touring car, the Dodge Viper can get up to 12 MPG (miles per gallon) in the city and up to 19 MPG on the highway. It has a curb weight of 3,374 to 3,415 pounds and 600 lb-ft of torque. The car comes with a 8.4 L V10 engine and comes in four different configurations, including the SRT, GTC, GTS, and ACR. The sports car was first produced in 1991, and Chrysler even launched a television show featuring the Dodge Viper to further promote the vehicle. The Viper only comes with a 6-speed manual transmission, so anyone who purchases it will need to know how to shift their on gears. But this car will not disappoint. It is a speed demon and is perfect for those who enjoy going fast. It is a two seater and was built to perform rather than to feature cargo space and room for passengers. Even though Chrysler considered ending production because of serious financial problems, on September 14, 2010, the then chief executive Sergio Marchionne announced and previewed a new model of the Viper for 2012. The Viper was named number 10 on the "Most American Cars" list in 2014, meaning 75% or more of its parts are manufactured in the U.S. The sports car was ultimately discontinued in 2017 after being in production for just over twenty years.
