The Jaguar XJ is a line of full-soze luxury executive vehicles produced by British automobile manufacturer Jaguar Cars, which became Jaguar Land Rover in 2013. The cars were in production from 1968 to 2019 and were produced across five basic platform generations, debuting in 1968, 1986, 1994, 2003 and 2009. Each generation was updated with various derivatives of each. Starting in 1970, the XJ series was Jaguar's flagship four door model. The original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have had the input of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder, and the model has been featured in countless media and high-profile appearances. The first generation of the Jaguar XJ was in production for a total of 24 years, with two major facelifts in 1973 and 1979. The 1973 facelift was for the 1974 model year and it was known as the "Series II"; retrospectively the earlier cars were referred to as the "Series I". Series 3 was in production from 1979 to 1992 and then came the X300 from 1994 to 1997 and the X308 from 1997 to 2003. From 2003 to 2007 was the XJ, also known as the X350, and the XJ (X358) from 2007 to 2009. Lastly, the X351 from 2010 to 2019.
