The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Lincoln Town Car a Five Star Crash Rating in every category. Even when sales started to decline the Lincoln Town Car remained one of the best selling American luxury cars. Many examples of the Town Car were used for fleet and livery (limousine) services. The Town Car was discontinued in 2011 and at the that time, it was the longest car produced by Ford worldwide, becoming the longest mass-production car sold in North America from 1997 to 2011.
