Classified as a mid size car, the Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight (98) can get up to 19 MPG (miles per gallon) in the city and up to 27 MPG on the highway. The Ninety-Eight Regency comes with a 3.8 L V6 engine and has 170 to 225 hp (horsepower). The car has a fuel tank capacity of 18 gallons and was available in three different configurations. These configurations include the Regency Special Edition, Regency, and the Regency Elite. From 1952 to 1991, the car was spelled Ninety-Eight, then from 1992 to 1996 it was spelled Ninety Eight. The car was a full size flagship model by Oldsmobile that had been produced from 1940 to 1996. Its name reflected a "Series 90" fitted with an 8-cylinder engine, which first appeared in 1941 and was used again after American consumer automobile production resumed post-World War II. At the time, it was the division's top of the line model, which it remained, as lesser Oldsmobiles had lower numbers such as the A-body 66 and 68, and the B-body 76 and 78. The 98 shared its General Motors C-body platform with Buick and Cadillac.
